FAQs

Have questions? Perhaps some of the FAQs below will help.

  • Are the programs safe?

Although the program is conducted in a well established spot, we are still in the vicinity of the jungle. Participants may encounter wild plants, animals and insects that may cause harm. This is where we train our participants to recognize and manage risk, which is critical to the development of health and safety of everyone. With all the precaution and procedures being practiced and managed, the risk of an incident happening will be greatly reduced.

  • After completing the program, will I receive a certificate?

Our participants will receive a ‘certificate of attendance’.
This training does not recognize the participant/trainee as a guide or instructor. Guides or trainers require extensive training and undergo assessments, which if deemed competent, only shall receive a ‘certificate of competence’ and be able to guide or instruct others.

  • What are the program rates?

Our rates are displayed below each program page. However, do Contact Us for group bookings or if you are interested in customized programs

  • How do I pay the fees?

Please click on the “Enroll” tab on the menu bar for this.

  • Do you provide transport and parking?

To keep our fees low and affordable, we prefer everyone to drive on their own and to rendezvous  at a location close to the program site (e.g. designated petrol stations or major landmarks). One of the staff will then lead all the cars to a car park. Please note that the organizers will do their best to ensure the safety of the car park area (e.g. parking beside a police station), but are not responsible for any theft and damages occurred.

  • Can you provide directions to the rendezvous or program venue?

Yes, we will email you the a map leading to the location once we receive the confirmation fee of the program (50%).

  • Is there a discount or is the fee negotiable?

We are always finding ways to keep our fees low and affordable for everyone. One of the ways to get a further reduced rate is to participate in our “Referral Incentive Program”. All participants will receive a card which has their name and a serial number on it, for their first program. The Referral Incentive Program takes place as soon as your first program ends. Just refer your friend to join any of our programs (don’t forget to give us your details on your card). For each friend that joins any of our programs, you will receive a RM10 off your next program. 10 friends = RM100 off the next program of your choice!

  • How many participants will there be in a program?

We have a very low instructor participant ratio. Our Technical Programs are 1:4, and non-technical programs are 1:8 instructor participant ratio. Recreational Programs will have higher staff participant ratio.

  • Am I insured during the program?

No, but we do provide a separate insurance policy under. Please also note that all participants are required to fill in and sign an indemnity form before the program.

  • What equipment should I bring?

Before any program, there would be a list of items to bring that would be sent out to you via email. All technical gears are provided (e.g. harness, ropes, first aid kit, etc.). Though participants should bring their own clothing, shoes, snacks, medicine, backpacks, notebook and stationary. There are some instances that participants may not have all the gears, which is not an issue, as the school would be able to loan important gears to you (e.g. technical backpacks, ponchos, stoves, shelter equipment, recipe books, etc.).

  • What are the health requirements?

Participants should be reasonably healthy. When filling out the indemnity form before the program, participants should state their health condition and issues (e.g. heart condition, asthma,  allergies, dislocations, fractures, sprains or any medical condition that concerns you). You will not be stopped from joining the program (unless its a safety issue), but rather, we’ll have a discussion on the options with you, to reduce the chances of an medical incident occurring.

  • I cannot make it on the agreed date for the program. What happens next?

Do notify us 7 days before the program and we should be able to slot you in on another program date. There are no refunds for cancellation.

  • What if there is bad weather during a program?

Malaysia’s weather pattern is often predictable as rain would pour down most afternoons around 4-5pm. That is why our program starts as early as 8am. Our programs will continue under light showers (unless there are safety issues e.g. lightning). After all, part of the risk management syllabus, is preparing for all weather conditions and testing your preparedness by experiencing it in real weather conditions. Our program will be adapted to the weather conditions, and in the worst scenario, we’ll just postpone the program to another day.

  • I have in mind a different type of outdoor education course. Can you develop something new?

Yes, we provide consultancy services on outdoor education and wilderness risk management. Lets get together and discuss further.

  • I like the gears being used on the programs. Can I purchase these gears from Learning Adventures?

We are not a retail outdoor company and we do not specialize on gears. However, some of the gear used on the programs are not easily attained locally, in this case, talk to us and we can arrange something for you. If we don’t carry a particular product you want, we’ll point you in the right direction.
