GOALS
- To provide safe, consistent, quality training for all trainees.
- To provide a rationale for the principles commonly practiced by guides and/or instructors, so that they can be appropriately applied to a variety of environments.
OBJECTIVES
- To experience safe leadership and decision making in response to an incident in the wilderness setting.
- To experience managing groups in different levels of emergency situations.
- To understand and apply standard forms of communication to those involved in the rescue.
- Recognize recreation impacts and the means to minimize those impacts.
PROGRAM EXPECTATIONS
- This fast paced program is designed for trainees who want to experience and sharpen leadership skills in a safe and controlled environment.
- Programs may be altered and/or adapted to the situation (e.g. weather, trainee involvement).
- Although the program is conducted in close proximity to the city, we are still in the vicinity of the jungle. Participants may encounter wild plants, animals and insects that may cause harm. The recognition and management of risk is critical to the development of health and safety of our participants and staff. Be alert at all times.
- Some trainees may have been exposed to methods or techniques that might differ from our program, which is fine, but during this training, trainees are encourage to be open to the school’s methods or techniques, to create a standard training environment.
